Sri Lanka Foundation
Sri Lanka Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to fundraising for medium to long term causes that promote quality of life for Sri Lankan children living in the harshest conditions.
In 2005, our immediate concern was the Asian Tsunami that devastated Sri Lanka. On September 1st, 2005 we left for Sri Lanka to distribute funds raised in support of children & families effected by the tsunami. We met with NGO’s (Non Governmental Organizations, such as OXFAM & Mercy Corp), local organizations and individuals active on the ground to get the best sense of what areas and initiatives would most benefit from our support. We documented our journey and how funding was dispersed on our blog.
In 2007 we are fundraising to continue work on several of the ongoing projects started over a year ago.
